PostSubject: ART VoiceChannel - Very nice channel strip.   Fri Nov 05, 2010 1:46 pm

Let me give you a little background first.

I hate cables, I despise them, I cannot work in an area full of cables, so i've taken a great liking to all digital interfaces as of late, and have almost entirely turned all my inputs into ADAT channels. I've spent a while with my setup and really like it, but wanted to add a nice Tube preamp to my rig for use on vocals, just to give a different flavour and a bit of warmth when recording acoustic guitars etc and i stumbled accross the little bundle of joy. http://www.artproaudio.com/products.asp?type=86&cat=9&id=133

This seems a perfect thing for me. Kind of like an all-in-one channel strip with a lovely ADAT out and a very convenient USB out as well. Been trying it out recently and if anyone is looking for a nice self contained channel strip, I would highly recommend this. Very nice sounding preamp, warm but clear at the same time. The Compression is very usuable, just dont expect to get a super squash from it and the addition of the tube voltage switch gives you a very nice boost in the saturation of the tube, allowing it to be driven harder giving yet again, a smooth sound. I would highly recommend this for anyone thats looking for a nice channel strip, whether your input is analogue or digital, its a great fit.
